Who
we Are and What we
Do

We are officially recognised by
Christian Ecology Link
as a local group, primarily serving
Andover (Hampshire, England) and surrounding villages.
We aim to
-
support one another in
greening our churches
-
work with other groups and
individuals in the community who have concerns about the
environment
-
make representation to Local
and National Government on matters relating to the Environment from
a Christian viewpoint.
How do
we do it?
-
we hold
regular meetings
three times a year for Members and Friends, for worship, fellowship
and
exchange of information. All mee tings are free and open to
interested members of the public
-
-
we
join in community
events eg Andover One World Week
-
we support
appropriate social and political action, e.g. fair trade, transition
towns
-
from time to time we
meet with or write to local councillors and
MP.

1. We
are promoting and
supporting Andover One World Week (October 1st-8th 2012) by providing
a meeting room for the organising committee. Our Church Hall is the venue
for a "World Food Tasting" and Cookery Demonstration organised by
multinational group "SEED" at 7pm on Saturday 1st, whilst on Friday (7th) our
Girls' Brigade will
be holding an event focusing on
Girls' Brigade
International.
,
2. In
our services this month we are celebrating "Creation
Time". (Sunday mornings at
10.30). Visiting preachers and service leaders are
being invited to use the Creation Time material
from CTBI. The programme will conclude with our Harvest Festival on 9th
October, when the
congregation will be bringing offerings for
Andover Food
Bank.
3.
We have recently applied for our second Ecocongregation Award
and are awaiting
assessment.
We have also recently switched to
a 100% green electricity supplier, Good Energy, whose quote was cheaper than renewing our
existing contract for non-renewable electricity with British Gas. Under certain circumstances Good
Energy can also supply churches with gas.
It's still fossil fuel, but they put a share of
profits into renewable electricity generating projects. Again it was cheaper than renewing with
BG! Has your church switched recently? You may find
it possible to go Green AND save
money!

above or telephone 01264 334083 and ask for
